Royal Corinthian Helmet AH-6058-PR
Corinthian helmets, originally from Greece, were carried to Greek colonies in Sicily, Italy and Spain. Traces have also been found in Celtic graves. This helmet represents a fully refined example from around 400 BC, and is complete with a blackened finish and brass ornaments. The plume is natural horsehair. Throughout the 5th and 4th century BC, the Greek Helmet continued to evolve, still with a view to improving ventilation, hearing and vision, without sacrificing protection.

The Royal Corinthian Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel with a blackened finish - the cast brass accent pieces are riveted onto the helm. The separate crest of horsehair with wood and leather base can be slotted into place atop the helm. The inside of the helmet is blackened and unlined - a separate padded cotton arming cap is included.

Measurements:
Front to Back: 9 inches
Side to Side: 8 inches
Interior Circumference: 26 inches
Weight: 4 lb 10 oz

Please Note: Helmet Stand is not included.
Also: This helmet is not suitable for contact combat reenactment due to the screws used to hold the brass fittings onto the helm.
Steel Corinthian Helmet - 18 Gauge

This Corinthian helm is crafted from 18 gauge steel; it is blackened on the inside. The helm is unlined, but it does come with a simple padded arming cap of cotton.

One of the most iconic helmets of war ever created, the Corinthian helm is instantly recognizable and has itself become a symbol for the ancient world and of martial prowess – the visage of the Corinthian helm is a common motif that can be seen today on many modern military unit badges as it is emblematic of warrior skill and heroism.

To the Greeks the Corinthian style was purpose-built for the phalanx – it gives very good coverage to the head and face without restricting the senses and breathing greatly. Most importantly, unlike earlier such helms the later Corinthian helms had cutouts for ears; an important development to ensure that the wearer could hear the orders and signals needed to maneuver cohesively in his phalanx. Later Greek warfare called for more complex army maneuvers between the Hoplite phalanxes and their supporting skirmishers and cavalry, and to respond to those of the foe, thus the ability for the entire phalanx to respond quickly to developments became paramount to success in a combined arms battlefield.

The Corinthian style was symbolically resurrected in the late Medieval period and the early Renaissance in the form of some Barbute style helmets, some of which took distinctive visual cues from the Corinthian and other Classical Greek Helmets. These Greek-inspired Barbute helms were most popular in Italy where the burgeoning Renaissance had made everything Greek and Roman both a fascination and a fashion.

Roman Ribchester Sport and Ceremony Cavalry Helmet
The Ribchester Cavalry Sports Helmet was a Roman Sports helmet originally found in Ribchester England. The masked style Roman helmet dates from the 1st C. AD. Cavalry sports equipment and helmets were used by teams of Roman Cavalry (Hippica Gymnasia). The games were played as one team would charge the other and throw light dummy javelins. Points were scored for hits on the other team.

This Roman Cavalry Sports and Ceremony Helm is a two part helm; the main body of the helm is 18 gauge brass and it is heavily embossed with martial scenes. The mask is crafted from thick aluminum with a finish that replicates the appearance of silver - it also has painted brass accents and a cast brass centerpiece on the forehead with the visage of a god.

The mask is fitted to the brass helmet with a leather band fitted across the back of the helm and secured with integrated pins. The interior of the helmet is blackened and unlined - a padded cotton arming cap is included with the helmet.

Measurements:
Front to Back: 7 inches
Side to Side: 7 inches
Interior Circumference: 25 inches
Weight: 6 lb 8.6 oz

Please Note: Helmet Stand is not included.
